Frenemies with Benefits by Lydia Sharp - eARC Review

DESCRIPTION
If there was an award for Least Able To Function Around Cute Boys, Jess Webster would clean up. She can barely talk to a guy, let alone engage in naked things. But now that high school is over, Jess resolves to put her big-girl pants on and at last bang.. eh hem bag the longtime object of her desire, Andrew. All she needs is someone to practice on first.

Enter Benjamin Oliver. Jock hot, nerd hot (which is just greedy, really), star quarterback, and all-around pain in Jess’s ass. While Jess would rather nap on a nest of fire ants than be his girlfriend, there’s still something about him that sends a jolt through her stomach, making him her best (and only) candidate for her guy game glow-up.

With summer in full swing and not one but two cute boys on the horizon, Jess is pretty sure she’s on the winning side of the bargain. But can her deal with Benjamin stay purely business-with-pleasure? And, the question that Jess soon can’t ignore: does she want it to?

REVIEW
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5/5)

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Sigh. This book took me back to my late teenage years when everything was exciting, yet complicated. The book is so relatable in that regard, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it!

Jessica might be shy, but she also has this innate inner strength that she isn’t afraid to reveal when necessary. She certainly has no qualms about using her sharp tongue against her nemesis Benjamin. He’s the popular jock-nerd who has a player reputation with the ladies. Jess and Benjamin’s friends are dating, so they are practically forced to comingle…even though they absolutely detest one another.

It’s summertime just after high school graduation, and Jess’s brother is returning home with his friend Andrew in tow. See, Andrew is the one she really wants, so taking Benjamin up on an offer he suggested seems logical in getting Andrew to notice Jess. The plan is going great until, well, it becomes complicated.

Things aren’t always as they seem, are they?

I know you’ll enjoy Frenemies with Benefits as much as I did! You’ll love Jess and Benjamin's witty banter, magnetic attraction [arches one eyebrow], and moments of comedic relief in this fun and entertaining read. The ending certainly had me swooning as well!
